MISSION HILLS NORTH - GARY PLAYER SIGNATURE COURSE
Gary Player fit his signature course into the natural surroundings, taking advantage of the California desert. When possible, he worked the greens and tees into land that was already there. The fairways are wide. Blind shots and doglegs are virtually nonexistent.
Player’s design makes extensive use of water, with lakes coming into play on 10 holes. On the par-5 11th, water is reachable on all three shots before reaching the green. Three of the course’s par-4s – the fifth, eighth and 12th – all feature water in some way.
The 11th is the toughest of the par-5s, though a golfer must also be careful on the third hole – which also has a lake in the fairway – and the 17th, with a lake near the green. Both nines end with demanding par-4s with water. The 18th requires a good drive over a lake to a fairway that doglegs to the right. This is a must play golf course.

Ranked as the #6 Public Course in California by PGATOUR.com, this Nickalus Design golf course is noted for its unobstructed sightlines, generous driving corridors and the overall strength of its design. Strategically placed bunkers, water hazards and undulating greens are there before you, but at the same time there is ample room for you to decide how much you want to flirt with them. With back tees stretching to nearly 7,200 yards, Escena offers a formidable test for the skilled player, but with four sets of tees and room to roam.
DESERT WILLOW MOUNTAIN VIEW COURSE
One of the more resort type southern California golf courses is Mountain View with wider fairways and limited desert waste areas. But don’t be deceived; Mountain View measuring 6,913 yards, is rated just slightly less difficult than othe course at Desert Willow, Firecliff.
With more forgiving fairways, 98 well-placed bunkers, sloping greens and seven water features, Mountain View still requires the best from golfers of all levels.
