MAY, JUNE, SEPTEMBER OR OCTOBER 2022 | 12+ NIGHTS | 10 ROUNDS | 12 GOLFERS

Epic Golf Travel
100% COVID cancellation copy

November 24, 2020

Hi Tony,

Thank you again for your inquiry!

I have updated your itinerary to reflect the information in your most recent emails. I have suggested single rooms for 6 nights at Pebble Beach Resort and 6 nights at Pelican Hill Resort, both of which are 5 Star resorts. I am suggesting a total of 10 scheduled rounds of golf on the courses listed below. I have also shown in the timeline an optional extra day in both Monterey and San Diego to sightsee, relax or play additional golf. This would make your trip either 13 or 14 nights in length if you opted for an off-day.

I also suggest you play 36 holes at both Pebble Beach Golf Links and Torrey Pines South, the highest ranking courses on your trip with each having hosted the U.S. Open.

I have priced the trip with both Ocean View lodging and Garden View lodging at each resort so you may see the difference in price.

For the best time of year to travel, almost any month along the California coast would work, but I have suggested four months I think would work the best specific to weather, course availability and pricing. Your trip will be exceptional no matter which of these months you choose.

Regarding transportation, I have researched both transfers and a full-time private coach and driver...

The transfers would take you to Pebble Beach Resort from any San Francisco airport. Once at Pebble Beach,  you would make use of the resort's shuttle services that would take you to and from all golf courses, restaurants and shopping within the resort. You would then transfer to Pelican Hill Resort from Pebble Beach. Once at Pelican Hill, you would not need transfers to the golf courses or onsite restaurants, as they are all very close to your lodging. I have then included transfers to The Torrey Pines golf courses and to either the Los Angeles airport (LAX) or the San Diego airport (SAN) for your departure.

If you decided on a full-time coach & driver rather than transfers, you would have this service on a 24/7 basis. The driver would be with you every step of the way, taking you to and from airports, lodging and golf courses. He would also be available to take you to dinner, sightseeing or any other location or activity the group desired.

I have also included pricing for the options listed above. This pricing reflects 2022 costs for all services, including golf, lodging, transportation and taxes. These quoted prices will not increase unless we add days to the trip or upgrade in some way. Regarding the trip pricing, If the quote does not reflect your preferred per person budget, please let me know and I will make adjustments so it better fits your expectations.

Depending on your needs and expectations of the trip, I can also offer the services of a partner or senior member of our staff to accompany your group on the trip to serve as a guide, knowledge base and trip coordinator.

I look forward to your thoughts and please feel free to reach out via phone if you'd like to talk in further detail, our UK number is below.

Kind regards,

GOLF COURSES

GOLF COURSES

PEBBLE BEACH GOLF LINKS

Play 36 holes at Pebble Beach

Ranked #17 in Top 100 Golf Courses in the World

18 holes, 72 par, 6828 yards

Pebble Beach hosted its sixth U.S. Open in 2019, and its fifth U.S. Amateur in 2018. Pebble Beach has hosted a PGA TOUR event since 1947, rolling out its green-carpet fairways not just for the game’s best golfers, but also Hall-of-Fame athletes and Hollywood stars.

It has breathtaking beauty, hole number four tees off a stretch of seven stunning seaside holes perched atop dramatic cliffs, and Pebble Beach finishes with two of the most beautiful holes in all of golf. The course design and strategy is second to none and it  features some of the most famous par-3s (No. 7), par-4s (No. 8) and par-5s (No. 18) in golf and plenty of heroic shot-making opportunities.

PASATIEMPO GOLF CLUB

Ranked #56 in Top 100 Golf Courses in the USA

Pasatiempo was designed by world-renowned golf architect Alister MacKenzie. Even though MacKenzie also designed Augusta National and Cypress Point, Pasatiempo was his favorite layout and where he made his American home, which still borders the sixth fairway. Today, this historic top 100 course is a semi-private golf club that sets aside certain tee times each day for public play.

It is classic California golf, wildly undulating topography, fairways cut through Monterey pines and towering eucalyptus trees and views that run for miles out across the Pacific Ocean. Pasatiempo absolutely delivers a memorable golf experience; it is truly one of the finest championship golf courses in the world.

The course has hosted the Western Intercollegiate for the past 65 years which features the top college players in the world. Pasatiempo has hosted USGA Championships including the 1986 U.S. Women’s Amateur and the 2004 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur.

SPYGLASS HILL GOLF CLUB

Ranked #84 in Top 100 Golf Courses in the World

18 holes, 72 par, 6960 yards

One of the most respected and revered courses in the world begins with one of the greatest opening stretches in golf: five spectacular sand-splashed holes that cruise up and down a sea of dunes while showcasing sublime oceanfront scenery and shots you’ve surely never seen.

But the defining characteristic of Spyglass Hill is how starkly the first five holes juxtapose the rest of the round. Incredible ocean views give way to the understated natural beauty of the Del Monte Forest, as the final 13 holes relentlessly examine your game with a litany of bunkers, ponds and uphill tests. Pine Valley-by-the-Sea meets Augusta National, as Sports Illustrated eloquently described it.

THE LINKS AT SPANISH BAY

18 holes, 72 par, 6821 yards

Meandering among the sweeping sand dunes along 17-Mile Drive, The Links at Spanish Bay unveils some of the most spectacular seaside views in Pebble Beach. The rolling fairways move through and around the dunescape, before returning to the white sand of Spanish Bay Beach for a thrilling finish along the coast.

The Links at Spanish Bay requires precision and patience while negotiating sand dunes, pot bunkers, challenging greens and an ocean breeze. Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Tom Watson and Sandy Tatum teamed up to artfully craft a distinctly Scottish look, blending green and golden hues against a spectacular beachside backdrop to produce a memorable experience unlike any other in Pebble Beach.

PELICAN HILL OCEAN NORTH & SOUTH

With the Ocean North and Ocean South Courses, Tom Fazio’s vision of amazing seaside golf has been brought to life in its purest form. These 36 holes of spectacular golf weave their way through stunning terrain and breathtaking vistas, with every lie, every shot and every hole designed to perfectly complement the natural landscape.

Of its two Tom Fazio-designed golf courses, the Ocean South was the first to open, in 1991. Its wide, terraced fairways and large, undulating greens cascade downward from the Mediterranean-style clubhouse toward the coastline. Ravines and canyons come into play on most holes, though Fazio did a superb job of giving golfers space to play safely.

The Ocean North Course occupies a higher piece of ground than its sister Ocean South course, and its Pacific Ocean views from every hole are absolutely stunning. Long-range vistas toward Catalina Island and the city of Newport Beach make a round here instantly memorable, especially in late afternoon as the sun sets over the ocean.

TORREY PINES NORTH & SOUTH

Play 36 holes at Torrey Pines South

Torrey Pines is home to two 18-hole championship courses, the North and South courses, each offering its own challenges and views. Originally opened in 1957, both the South Course and North Course were designed by famous course architect William P. Bell and were completed by his son, William F. Bell.

While both the North and South courses test a golfer's skill with tight fairways, lush rough, trees, sand and bunkers, each course offers a unique golfing experience. On the South Course you can take in the fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean, just a hundred yards below you. Most other holes on the South offer sweeping views of a large natural canyon. On the North Course, be careful of several holes that sit directly on the bluffs, overlooking the magnificent coastline and Pacific Ocean.

The South Course was home to the 2008 U.S. Open and the Open is set to return here again in 2021.

EDIN RIFT VINEYARDS

With vineyards dating to 1849, Eden Rift Vineyards is among the oldest, continually producing estate vineyards in California. A remote, pacific refuge located under the shadow of the Gavilan Mountain Range, the estate rests on the San Andreas Fault and is part of the Cienega Valley AVA. The views of the surrounding countryside are amazing.

Only 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean, this site benefits from an ideal, temperate maritime climate as well as the coveted calcareous soil requisite in the cultivation of vivid, energetic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

An historic, head-trained block of Zinfandel, planted in 1906, still thrives outside the estate’s main residence, The Dickinson House. Designed by famed architect Walter Burley Griffin and also built in 1906, the Dickinson House is open for wine tasting Thursday through Monday, from 11am to 4pm.

The varieties most ideally suited to the wineries micro- and macro-climates are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Pinot Gris. Your trip includes a tour and tasting at Edin Rift.

MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM

Located at the ocean's edge, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a window to marine life -- for dive masters and non-swimmers alike. It's home to sea otters, penguins, sharks, jellies and thousands of other marine animals and plants.f

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a pioneering aquarium and renowned marine conservation organization. It's mission is to inspire conservation of the ocean. The aquarium is located on historic Cannery Row in Monterey and open daily except Christmas Day. Hours vary by season. Daily schedules available at www.montereybayaquarium.org or by calling (831) 648-4800.

HEARST CASTLE

Hearst Castle in San Simeon is a National Historic Landmark and California Historical Landmark located on the Central Coast of California. Conceived by William Randolph Hearst, the publishing tycoon, and his architect Julia Morgan, it was built between 1919 and 1947. Known formally as "La Cuesta Encantada" (The Enchanted Hill), Hearst called his castle “the ranch".

His father George Hearst had purchased the original 40,000 acre estate in 1865 and in 1919 Hearst inherited some $11 million (equivalent to $160 million today) and estates including the land at San Simeon. He used his fortune to further develop his media empire and began construction of what would become one of the largest family estates in the country.

The estate has 42 bedrooms, 61 bathrooms, 19 sitting rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, a movie theater and an airfield.

SAN DIEGO ZOO

The San Diego Zoo is widely recognized as one of the best, if not the best, zoos in the entire world. It houses more than 3.500 animals of  more than 800 species.

The San Diego Zoo was a pioneer in the concept of open-air, cageless exhibits that re-create natural animal habitats. It is one of the few zoos in the world that houses, and successfully bred the giant panda. In 2013, the zoo added a new Australian Outback exhibit, providing an updated Australian animal experience. Another new exhibit, called Africa Rocks, opened in 2017.

With over 4 million visitors, San Diego Zoo is the most visited zoo in the United States.
