YOUR GOLF COURSES

YOUR GOLF COURSES
PEBBLE BEACH GOLF LINKS
Ranked #17 in Top 100 Golf Courses in the World
18 holes, 72 par, 6828 yards
Pebble Beach hosted its sixth U.S. Open in 2019, and its fifth U.S. Amateur in 2018. Pebble Beach has hosted a PGA TOUR event since 1947, rolling out its green-carpet fairways not just for the game’s best golfers, but also Hall-of-Fame athletes and Hollywood stars.
It has breathtaking beauty, hole number four tees off a stretch of seven stunning seaside holes perched atop dramatic cliffs, and Pebble Beach finishes with two of the most beautiful holes in all of golf. The course design and strategy is second to none and it features some of the most famous par-3s (No. 7), par-4s (No. 8) and par-5s (No. 18) in golf and plenty of heroic shot-making opportunities.
SPYGLASS HILL GOLF CLUB
Ranked #84 in Top 100 Golf Courses in the World
18 holes, 72 par, 6960 yards
One of the most respected and revered courses in the world begins with one of the greatest opening stretches in golf: five spectacular sand-splashed holes that cruise up and down a sea of dunes while showcasing sublime oceanfront scenery and shots you’ve surely never seen.
But the defining characteristic of Spyglass Hill is how starkly the first five holes juxtapose the rest of the round. Incredible ocean views give way to the understated natural beauty of the Del Monte Forest, as the final 13 holes relentlessly examine your game with a litany of bunkers, ponds and uphill tests. Pine Valley-by-the-Sea meets Augusta National, as Sports Illustrated eloquently described it.
PASATIEMPO GOLF CLUB
Ranked #56 in Top 100 Golf Courses in the USA
Pasatiempo was designed by world-renowned golf architect Alister MacKenzie. Even though MacKenzie also designed Augusta National and Cypress Point, Pasatiempo was his favorite layout and where he made his American home, which still borders the sixth fairway. Today, this historic top 100 course is a semi-private golf club that sets aside certain tee times each day for public play.
It is classic California golf, wildly undulating topography, fairways cut through Monterey pines and towering eucalyptus trees and views that run for miles out across the Pacific Ocean. Pasatiempo absolutely delivers a memorable golf experience; it is truly one of the finest championship golf courses in the world.
Pasatiempo has hosted multiple USGA Championships, including the 1986 U.S. Women’s Amateur and the 2004 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur.
POPPY HILLS GOLF CLUB
Ranked #59 in Top 100 Golf Courses in California
Poppy Hills is the newest golf course in Pebble Beach, California after undergoing an extensive 13-month renovation that was completed in April 2014. The original Poppy Hills was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and opened in 1986. Along with Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course, Poppy Hills co-hosted the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am from 1991 to 2009, replacing Cypress Point in the rotation.
The new Poppy Hills has been widely heralded since it reopened in 2014. Golf.com Travel Writer Joe Passov said the new Poppy Hills has a "Pinehurst-like touch, with just a hint of near-neighbor Cypress Point." Golf Getaways Travel Writer Vic Williams added about the new design, "at certain times it feels like Pinehurst, other times like Augusta, with dashes of Pine Valley."

THINGS TO SEE & DO

THINGS TO DO
17-MILE DRIVE AT PEBBLE BEACH
Follow 17-Mile Drive’s red-dotted line to arrive at an enchanting world full of dramatic coastal cliffs, snow-white beaches, mystical forests and iconic golf courses. Discover one of the most scenic drives in the world as you meet the inspiring Lone Cypress, ponder the giant trees at Crocker Grove, digest the untouched beauty at Fanshell Beach, behold the power of the Restless Sea at Point Joe, stroll the boardwalk above the beach at Spanish Bay, and much, much more.
View a map and full points of interest description of 17 Mile Drive here.
BIG SUR
Welcome to one of the world’s most unforgettable stretches of coastline. Big Sur's roughly 90-mile-long stretch of redwood- and fog-trimmed waterfront between Carmel-by-the-Sea and Hearst Castle draws you (and writers like Henry Miller and Beat Generation darling Jack Kerouac) in with a magic allure that is almost palpable. This is, quite simply, a place you want to be—bluffs, sea, and sky... The most beautiful and awe inspiring coastline in the world.
The classic drive through Big Sur, along twisting Highway 1, offers plenty of pullovers at places like seen-it-in-a-million-car-commercials Bixby Bridge. Stop at parks along the coastline and look up to see endangered California condors, North America’s largest birds, or look down to scan the swells for migrating whales or sea otters floating among dense beds of kelp, California’s signature seaweed.
The region’s beauty also makes it a magnet for exclusive, splurge-worthy hotels like the cliff-hugging Post Ranch Inn or luxurious Ventana Big Sur.
EDIN RIFT VINEYARDS
With vineyards dating to 1849, Eden Rift Vineyards is among the oldest, continually producing estate vineyards in California. A remote, pacific refuge located under the shadow of the Gavilan Mountain Range, the estate rests on the San Andreas Fault and is part of the Cienega Valley AVA. The views of the surrounding countryside are amazing.
Only 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean, this site benefits from an ideal, temperate maritime climate as well as the coveted calcareous soil requisite in the cultivation of vivid, energetic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
An historic, head-trained block of Zinfandel, planted in 1906, still thrives outside the estate’s main residence, The Dickinson House. Designed by famed architect Walter Burley Griffin and also built in 1906, the Dickinson House is open for wine tasting Thursday through Monday, from 11am to 4pm.
The varieties most ideally suited to the wineries micro- and macro-climates are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Pinot Gris. Your trip includes a tour and tasting at Edin Rift.
OLD FISHERMAN'S WHARF
A visit to Monterey today just isn't complete without a rendezvous with Old Fisherman's Wharf in downtown Monterey. Known as the "Whale Watching Capital of the World", Monterey's Old Fisherman's Wharf provides a wide array of award-winning dining, shopping, special events, and strolling leisurely while overlooking Monterey Bay.
Monterey's Old Fisherman's Wharf features 13 restaurants, 3 candy shops, 8 gift shops, 4 whale watching firms, 2 fishing companies and sailing, glass bottom boat rides, Bay cruises, fish markets and the Wharf Theatre.
Savor delicious cuisine at a myriad of fabulous restaurants featuring stunning views and award-winning Italian food, sustainable seafood, steaks and the region's famous clam chowder and calamari.
Enjoy salt water taffy, homemade chocolates, caramel apples, cotton candy and many other yummy treats. View sea otters, sea lions, dolphins, whales, sea birds and other wildlife up close and personal that also share the Wharf.
CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA
No exploration of California’s central coast is complete without a sojourn to Carmel-by-the-Sea, a town as well known for its shopping as it is for its most famous former civil servant, the Honorable Mayor Clint Eastwood.
This quaint amalgamation of art galleries, boutiques, hotels, shops, fine restaurants and whimsically styled homes evokes a storybook ambiance that can be appreciated by romantics of all ages. It’s no wonder why Travel + Leisure has named it as one of the "World's Best Cities for Romance."
LAND ROVER DRIVING EXPERIENCE
Open daily, year-round, the Land Rover Experience Driving Center at Quail Lodge & Golf Club provides customized off road driving lessons and adventure for all skill levels in California.
